Monday's Harvest

Not only did we harvest a pig yesterday, and of course eggs, but I got down to the garden and picked these:
Good thing I did because as you can see that squash had grown a lot in the two days that I hadn't been down to the garden. Those are more Jimmy Nardello peppers, some little cherry tomatoes from the hanging baskets and our first full sized tomato, a yellow one from the Taxi tomato variety.

See all the harvest here at Daphne's Dandelions .

  1. Well, the pig beats all harvests! Jimmy Nardellos are a favorite around here -- great for freezing, dehydrating, and also drying and grinding into a homemade paprika...

    1. We are really liking them especially since they are actually producing this year.

  2. Yes, I must say your "harvested a pig" statement trumps all previous harvest reports! Did you add it to Daphne's Dandelions??

  3. I do think a pig merits a picture, even if it's a picture of chops! Nice harvest!

  4. I had to laugh when I read the sentence "harvested a pig". How much did it weigh? Do you do your own butchering or you take it to a butcher?

    1. Just scroll a couple posts down to the pig butchering post or I also have it on the sidebar under popular posts.

  6. It is always amazing to me how fast zucchinni and other summer squash grow! Hope the fresh pork is tasty and the veggies look yum!

  7. Nice! I've never heard of a Jimmy Nardello pepper...are they sweet or hot? I'm guessing by their sharp tips that they're hot, but I could be wrong ;-)

Oh! I absolutely love that you harvested a pig! So amazing!

  8. That's a pretty squash. I tried Jimmy Nardellos a few years ago but they wouldn't even get started for me. Loved the pig posts! That is on my agenda for the future, but I'll probably have to find a couple of partners to share with.

  9. What a pretty squash. I only have green zucchini. Maybe next year I'll plant some yellow squash.
