Harvest Monday

I did actually harvest a few things this week. These are the beans that I blanched yesterday. More peppers. We have had so many peppers that I am having a hard time using them all up. There are a few of the last tomatoes as well.
I have a cucumber plant out there with blossoms all over it so am hoping for some fall cucumbers. The beans will produce for a while longer and the Swiss chard is coming along. They are in the bed with the large blueberries and luckily the caterpillar that ate all the leaves off the blueberries didn't care for the Swiss chard.  I have lots of basil and herbs that need harvesting, I just need three more of me so I can get everything done lately.

  1. I had a major caterpillar outbreak under my row cover in the chard. It seems to happen once a year to me. I always wonder how they get there. I'm glad your caterpillar didn't like them. Too bad about the blueberry plants though. I hope it didn't hurt the plant too much that it can't recover.

    1. I hope so too. It stripped all but a couple leaves on the very top. I wonder if that is what got my pomegranate tree as well, same thing, it only has the top few leaves.

  2. Sounds like your garden is gearing up for a last hurrah fall production season! I know what you mean about needing a clone or two around to help.

  4. That is a nice looking harvest; hope your chard continues to not be a caterpillar target/

  5. Great year for peppers I think! Yours look nice, so does everything else. Good that you are getting swiss chard and I hope the blueberries are OK.

  8. i have been very lucky with my gardens this year. the perimeter of my gardens had been planted with plants that coons, squirels and possoms dont like to get their feet into and i have numerous bird houses about the place so caterpillars, hornworms and such did not have a chance. i did have a problem with aphids in the winter squash garden though. for us it has been a really good season for bell peppers, greenbeans, okra, lettuce and tomatoes...i failed with the beets although i discovered one plant growing among the bell pepper plants! harvested my three buckets of potatoes yesterday and yippee, i love new potatoes in cream sauce..gonna plant some more and hope for a fall harvest from those buckets.

  10. I have been having trouble with leaf rollers on my beans. I am sorry about your blueberries. That would make me sad. I love blueberries.
