I know what you are thinking--"Her next victims". I truly hope not. I got these at Tractor Supply yesterday. I was just so amazed that there were pink blueberries.
I really could not find a whole lot of information on them. They are basically like any other blueberry and need an acid soil. These say they grow in zones 5-8. It is self pollinating and will ripen in mid to late summer and will grow to 4-5 ft.
I may put these up in the berry garden but I am not sure yet.
I'll be interested in seeing what these actually do in a garden!

DeletePink blueberries? Never heard of it. Interesting what would it taste like.
ReplyDeleteThey are supposed to taste just like a regular blueberry. One description said that if you close your eyes when you eat it you will know it is just a blueberry.

ReplyDeleteI imagine that would be a nice way to use them. I think it would also be cute to bake them in muffins and then see if the people eating them know what they are.

ReplyDeleteI have planted lots of blueberries. I actually had a couple of them grow and fruit but the ones I planted last year that were this size just plain died. I am hoping to do better with these two.

DeleteWell, I feel like a dummy, I don't come to Thomson very often and I didn't realize there was a Tractor Supply there. I've been to the one in Augusta and Aiken, but never the one in Thomson.
DeleteAugusta is not so bad to drive in, as long as you avoid the 7:30 to 8:30 AM and then the 3:00 to 6:00 PM!
Anyhow, thanks for the info on the pink/blueberries, I'm going to the Augusta store tomorrow and see if they have any. I have had about the same luck with blueberries that you have, except for 3 Sunshine Blue blueberry bushes that I bought last spring. They've done great, but they are patio/potted specialties, so they've thrived as plants, but don't give much yield of berries.
Wow, I've never heard of these. I plant to create a small berry garden. Had actual blueberries growing from plants in pots last year, so I want to try them in the ground. Thought that might be the kiss of death, lol. I LOVE these pink ones, they would be so neat mixed in with regular blueberries. Please keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteI will. I am still debating on where I will plant these and whether I will plant them in the ground or not. I may just put them in pots where they might be safer.
