Blossoms and other tales

I had no idea that lemon blossoms smelled so wonderful! I have never had a citrus tree that lived long enough to bloom and for some reason I thought they would be mostly without scent. It was so lovely and warm today that the meyer lemon had several blooms open and that lovely scent really surprised me. Somewhat like honeysuckle only better.
The mosquitoes were out this evening but I have yet to see any bees so I did a little pollinating myself--nothing technical just used my finger to move pollen from one flower to another.
I also managed to get down to the garden today and plant a few more things in one of the raised beds. I planted onion bulbs in half of a long bed and spinach in the other half. I also planted 9 plants of head lettuce that I picked up at the store.
We also went and brought home the truck Phil bought on Friday. It is a 1994 Chevy Silverado. It needed lots of cleaning as it had been used as a work truck and a few repairs. We spent part of the afternoon scrubbing the upholstery and carpet.
This was about all I got done today. Friday night we had a very good friend pass away so the rest of the day was spent at the funeral home. Tomorrow is the actual service and Phil and I will take the day off from work so that we can attend. It has truly been a very sad weekend for us.

  4. I too love how the citrus blooms smell. Last year honeyman got me a Kumquat, Meyer Lemon and Keylime for our anniversary. I could not get over how great the blooms smelt!
