(YEAH! And it was!)

"But you still probably shouldn't tell me where it came from."

We are having baked chicken strips tonight. I guess she doesn't realize that the last time we had chicken strips and the last 3 times we had thighs and legs they were from the back yard as well.

  1. husband: *There's something wrong with this chicken, it tastes bad...is this one of those chickens you raised last year? I told you I won't eat those!* wife/me: *No dear that's Foster Farms...I ran out of the home-raised chicken you've been eating all winter and had to buy a chicken from the store.* Husband: *Oh. You need to order more meat birds from the hatchery...I'm not eating store-bought again.*

  2. Sounds right to me Lynda. Only problem is that I need to find help for the butchering. They like to eat them but don't like to help process.

  3. Lynda--Too funny about the husband! Rebecca-- I've been reading a lot about raising chickens today. Although I'm a million miles from being able to do that, I love learning about it. So cool that you raise your own meat!

  5. She knows I have been butchering chickens this spring, I guess she just didn't think about it.
Oh and yes Heiko, she knows about the Easter Bunny I used to raise those a few years ago and she knows what they taste like, lol.
