Snow 2011

The first day

The second day

Nothing but ice up the hill on our dirt road
Nothing but ice down the road (the tracks were made the first day, nobody is making tracks on the ice covered snow today)

Phil walked out to the main road and it hasn't been plowed either. Nothing but tracks where tires go and snow and ice everywhere else. The amazing thing is that we only got 4 inches of snow and the only road that has been graded by the city is the one in front of Wal-mart. So you can go to Wal-mart if you live 500 ft. either side of it or if you have a 4 wheel drive other than that apparently our city workers are taking several days off as well. I imagine that will do our economy a world of good. We all have two days off out of our paychecks already. Supposed to freeze again tonight and no guarantee that we can get out tomorrow.

  1. The snow is pounding here as we speak. The state's salt station boarders my property but they do not maintain the road that we are both on. So I watch the trucks pull in and out and the road is still not touched because it is a township maintained road. What a way to do things.

  2. Yes, snow is "pretty" but it's also a pain sometimes. What a huge impact weather has on our lives!

  3. You know my mail hasn't come for 2 days either? I really can't blame them but if the city of Thomson would actually do their jobs the postal service could as well.

  4. It's been snowing on and off here all day. School was out for less than 2 inches, but that's normal for this area.

    Stay warm and safe!

  5. Snow belongs in pictures!

If you think about it, it could be the beginning of... The Colony! Watch how crazy people get when the grocery store shelves get emptied.

  6. Well, I haven't been to the store because I don't need anything. I have to laugh at the "milk, bread and egg" thing that is going around. Years ago all that left the shelf was water and batteries. When I shopped on Saturday, the only thing I really needed was more lamp oil and batteries. Glad we didn't lose power(amazing, first time ever). School is closed again tomorrow. Third day in a row. I do believe we could get out to town now but the roads aren't clear so they won't send the buses. They "could" have been clear by now but, apparently, no one is doing their JOb! I have never seen a storm where they don't do ANYTHING like this one. I have been here almost 20 years now. It is just sad to me. I think I want to go home.

  7. I love snow, but I have never lived in a place where it snows heavily. I think it must be a very different experience from what I know.

  8. fer, having this much snow here is very unusual for us which is why the town isn't equiped to deal with it. Frankly though, I think they could try harder.

  11. Ahh, snow. So pretty to look at, but makes gardening a challenge. If Walmart had more brains, surely they would clear the roads to enable consumerism. 500yds clearing of roads either side of their store? Where is the fiscal sense in that?

  12. If the City of Thomson had been smart, they would have had their grader out doing more important things than clearing the wal-mart parking lot!
I still don't want to see snow again for a couple years, lol.
