Wow it must be huge considering the feet and hands just visible. Unfortunately quilting is still a bit of a mystery to me although I am determined to master it...eventually. Onya Becky you've done a marvellous job.
It might fit a full size bed. It is not hard. I started with a scrap baby quilt that I made for my daughter with just squares because I didn't have any blankets for her. I didn't even use quilt batting but used a few of her receiving blankets. Still have that quilt today.
i learned to quilt while growing up in the ozark mountains of missouri and your quilt is beautiful.. i really love the colors and i bet your phil really loves it. i like making simple quilt as you go quilts but about once a year, usually in winter time i will set up the quilting frame and handquilt a top. i absolutely love working on restoring old quilts...the old quilt can really tell us a lot about the original quilter with every thread and stitch.
I guess this is a simple "quilt as you go" quilt since I don't have a frame and have not learned how to use one. I don't have any old quilts to restore and wonder if when you restore them, you aren't just changing history? To me the wear and tear on them are what tells you about the person who made them and their history.
Just beautiful. My Grandmother quilted and I have a couple that she made specifically for me and they are treasured memories. I'm sure he loved it because, well, it was made WITH love! nice job!
That quilt is beautiful-you are a really multi-talented lady! Quilts are so individual and each has its own story-yours I’m sure, has lots to tell...Well done you!
That's beautiful Becky! Great job, how did you do all of that work without him seeing it?
ReplyDeleteMost of it I did on my week off while he was working. The rest I did in the mornings before I went to work.
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt has feet...
ReplyDeleteI expect the designs re-kindled some old memories for Phil!
Michelle's feet. She had a time holding it up since I didn't quite have the camera ready, lol.
DeleteThat's so cool and personal! Love homemade gifts!
ReplyDeleteThats a very nice quilt . I bet he loved it! I made my husband an army blanket and he enjoyed his!
ReplyDeleteWow, Nice work! I prefer giving and receiving hand made gifts. They mean so much more.
ReplyDeleteBet he loved it

DeleteWow that is INCREDIBLE!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky! The quilt is awesome! You did such a great job! Blessings from Bama!
ReplyDeleteGreat and really impressive work. Quilting is one of those things on a disappointingly long list I have of things I'd love to do one day.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those lists too. Just happens that quilting got off my list almost 20 years ago, wine making didn't get off it until this year.
