And then I came home to this:
I am so sick of snakes this year! I had a heck of a time getting him out of that cage and then the area in front of the cage is very small but he didn't get away. This one was in one of the quail cages and I only lost one quail to him.
What kind of snake Becky? Is it uh.... edible?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what they are really called, just a plain old black chicken snake. I sure they are edible but after I wack the hell out of it with a hoe, I have no inclination to eat the thing, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people put up those plastic owls to keep snakes away. Have you tried that? I wonder if it would work.
ReplyDeleteWe get Tiger snakes and Dugiets here inn Western Australia but I'd hate to come across something that big. I'd just freak out.
ReplyDeleteBarb.
It's a black rat snake, also known as a black chicken snake. Thankfully it isn't poisonous, but I still would not like to come upon one by surprise! Yeesh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantherophis_obsoletus
ReplyDeletePatti that is a great idea! I am going to be looking for an owl now. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMight wanna put the owl down at ground level Becky!...lolol........sorry, didn't mean to laugh BUT I had this vision of a snake liftin' its' head up and looking all around to see IF there "might be" an owl lurkin'
ReplyDeletenearby!....hehehehe. I am really getting a charge outta that vision, so sorry!
I hope to put them everywhere I can but so far I haven't found any owls.
