Power Outage
We had a very nasty storm Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. When we heard a tree by the house crack Phil and I went running for the baby's room(the pines are very tall all around the house) but we only made it to the livingroom before we heard it hit the ground (cringing!). It took the power line with it and draped the line over Phil's car which, of course, was parked in the driveway behind mine. At the beginning of our dirt road several trees fell and took down all the lines including the phone lines. We also had a heck of a time getting my car out around Phil's and the power line laying across it yesterday so that we could go get something to drink and some ice to keep things cold. We were also good and hot and miserable yesterday and were mighty glad to see them get the power back on. We didn't get our power restored again until this morning (Friday) at 3:30 a.m. (We were all awake even the baby. No one could sleep because it was so hot.).
Hearing a tree crack and plummet is one of the scariest things.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone is ok.
Martin :-)
Do you store water? I keep frozen water bottles in my freezers at all times...we're prone to power outages in my neck of the woods and they always come in handy...keeping things cold and as they melt we could use them for drinking. It was one of the first things I did when I decided to become more self sufficient. Glad to hear your family is safe...we lost 25 trees in a blow-down two years ago at our vacation cabin; then this year we lost 800 almond trees here at the ranch to a freak tornado...you are so right...very scary!!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys do get some extreme weather conditions round your way! Almost time to put your "Colony" training into practice... Was Phil's car damaged?
ReplyDeleteWe don't store water anymore since they brought the city water way out here. No room either freezer for any bottles of water.
ReplyDeleteNo the car was not damaged. Had we known they had cut it off at the main road we would have known that we could move it but who wants to take chances with a power line?
Yes, I got a taste of Colony living for sure and the heat plays a much bigger factor in what you do than I thought. We did very little because we felt so hot and drained all the time.
I'm so glad everyone is ok. Storms always scare me to death!
ReplyDeleteVery Scary. Glad nothing real bad happened.
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is OK!
ReplyDeleteSo gald your all okay. A very scary time you all had there!
