A Second Job
So I have been constantly looking for ways to make more money because we can't afford a house if we can't save some money. An opportunity for a second job came up several weeks ago and I put in my resume for it. I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks and thought I didn't have a chance and then they called.
As most of you know, I work at the Boys and Girls Club. I work 35 hours a week from noon until 7:00 p.m. every day which only left mornings and weekends for a second job, however, during the summer my hours change because of our Summer Camp which makes it even harder to find a second job.
This job just happened to fit in perfectly. It is at a Mistletoe State Park. Yup, absolutely the most perfect place for me to work. It is a absolutely beautiful park. I will work weekends and Friday afternoons during the summer and then just weekends during the winter. It works out perfectly with my summer hours at the Club because I will work full days Mon. through Thursday for them and then a half day on Friday.
I have worked two weekends already and I really love it. The people are incredibly nice and the customers are all so happy to be there (not so much a the Boys and Girls Club). I am learning the system pretty quickly (so they tell me) which was a relief since I worried where I only worked weekends, it would be hard for me to retain all the information from one weekend to the next but it hasn't been hard.
Anyway, the extra I am making should definitely get us a lot closer to buying that future house and I still manage to get violin practice almost every morning, take care of the animals and even get in some crocheting now and then...haven't worked the cakes in yet but I am sure I will eventually.
Well done, I just hope you dont burn yourself out with that list :-)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason it doesn't even seem like I work weekends but it does make me appreciate what time I have in the mornings. I really don't feel rushed though.
DeleteCongratulations! I'm happy for you (especially since the people sound a lot nicer!). What exactly do you have to do in this new job?
ReplyDeleteI am in the office/gift shop/check-in and that is what I do, check in all the campers and give out day passes and sell whatever they need in the little gift show.
DeleteHi Becky, sounds like you are going to be busy, I agree with Dawn, don't burn yourself out. I learned that early on. Sometimes it happens before you know it. Good luck and keep us informed on how it's going. Good luck
ReplyDeleteWell, I will do it for as long as I can anyway and then if it gets to be too much I'll have to give up something.
DeleteHi Becky! So glad you got the new job! It sounds awesome! Doing something that you love! You'll have that money saved before you know it! Thanks for sharing about it! Sometimes 'busy' is not a bad thing! Blessings from Bama!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! But, boy are your days full. Good luck with managing all that. It will definitely be worth it in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI hope it works well for you.
ReplyDeleteBecky,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your part time job. Remember to leave a little time in your schedule for you.
I just have to make it through the 9 weeks of summer. Those will be the worst but after that I will go back to having mornings free.
DeleteI'm with Sandy. Make sure you have a little down time! But glad you're happy!
ReplyDeleteNice post, things explained in details. Thank You.
