Today is my Memorial Day since I have to go to work again tomorrow. Today was my first day off in 21 days and it may be my last day off until the week of July 4th. I have to say, I definitely enjoyed it but it is hard to cram a lot of stuff into one day. We went to town and I bought a new flag since the one we have flying outside now is an Army flag and I wanted a regular flag to go with it. We then went and visited my brother. My sister-in-law works for a magazine distributor and she gets Cake magazines for me for free! She had one for me today. My brother also told Phil how to figure out if the old Cavalier needed a new fuel pump or not (we now know it probably does).
And I made a cake! It was so nice since I didn't think I was going to get a chance to make one for a long time. It didn't really turn out as nice as I had hoped but ...more experience (lots of work).
It is red velvet and blue velvet (No, I had never heard of blue velvet before either.) It was pretty tasty.
I made a New England boiled ham dinner for supper as well. Can't that is all that hard though as all you need to do is boil a ham, potatoes and carrots.
Hope you all have a lovely Memorial Day and please remember the reason for it.

My Companion
This was my companion at my desk today at my new job.
One of the other workers had some program to do and this snake apparently was part of it. I actually find them pretty interesting when they are locked in a box, I just don't like them when they are eating my chicks or eggs.
I was a little sick yesterday evening which made going to my second job this morning not as pleasant but I got feeling better as the morning went on and I learned several more things about my duties at my new job that I hadn't known before. I feel like I am doing well and am fairly comfortable already.

A Second Job
So I have been constantly looking for ways to make more money because we can't afford a house if we can't save some money. An opportunity for a second job came up several weeks ago and I put in my resume for it. I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks and thought I didn't have a chance and then they called.
As most of you know, I work at the Boys and Girls Club. I work 35 hours a week from noon until 7:00 p.m. every day which only left mornings and weekends for a second job, however, during the summer my hours change because of our Summer Camp which makes it even harder to find a second job.
This job just happened to fit in perfectly. It is at a Mistletoe State Park. Yup, absolutely the most perfect place for me to work. It is a absolutely beautiful park. I will work weekends and Friday afternoons during the summer and then just weekends during the winter. It works out perfectly with my summer hours at the Club because I will work full days Mon. through Thursday for them and then a half day on Friday.
I have worked two weekends already and I really love it. The people are incredibly nice and the customers are all so happy to be there (not so much a the Boys and Girls Club). I am learning the system pretty quickly (so they tell me) which was a relief since I worried where I only worked weekends, it would be hard for me to retain all the information from one weekend to the next but it hasn't been hard.
Anyway, the extra I am making should definitely get us a lot closer to buying that future house and I still manage to get violin practice almost every morning, take care of the animals and even get in some crocheting now and then...haven't worked the cakes in yet but I am sure I will eventually.
