At the same yard sale that I bought the fabric and curtain for my tablecloth I also got this fabric with these beautiful bird panels on it. It has 8 or 9 panels on it and I got it for $ .25. I knew I wanted to make throw pillows out of it and have been keeping my eye out for a nice light brown fabric to make the back out of. This weekend I found that back material in the form of a nice light brown/tan pillowcase at the thrift store ($1.49). I also found a bag of fiberfill ( $ .99) at the thrift store and this perfect roll of fabric ribbon ( $ .49). I actually sewed 4 of these throw pillows; two for the couch and two for the love seat. Four pretty nice throw pillows $3.12 and a bit of work. Just can't beat it.

ReplyDeleteNo, but you may have to wait several months to find the right stuff to go with it. Some of my "stuff" isn't just clutter, some of it is just waiting for something good to come along to complete the project. Some people go out and buy a bunch of stuff to decorate their homes and people pat them on the back and tell them what a good job they did. When you come in my home I can tell you, I made the pillows(couch), I made the pillow cases too, lol (bed), the curtains are mine(all of them, the whole house), the rug in the kitchen I made, every bed has a quilt or afghan that I made. I never would be able to just go out an buy new things or even materials to make these things . I just do it this way.

ReplyDeleteThank you, lol, but I don't know as it is talent. We grew up poor and had to learn to do things ourselves. It is something anyone can do. Sometimes I wonder how other people live. How do they afford it if their man doesn't know how to fix the car or the woman doesn't know how to cook, sew, crochet etc.?
